Title

Boss Summoners, a hybrid gamemode of control and a boss fight!

The premise of this game is simple. One team must capture the control point, and get kills as the boss. When a team captures the control point, one player of the team becomes the boss. Then as the boss, they must try to get kills before they are killed. The teammates of the boss must aid him by killing enemy players to freeze them in place, in order to make them an easy picking for the boss. Once the boss is eliminated, the next round begins, and the point reopens for capture.

  1. The rules to the mode are simple; however, there are critical details.
  2. There are two phases: Control and Boss.
  3. First team to 20 points wins the game.
  4. The team composition is 6v6.
  5. The maps are all one part of control maps. The maps included are Oasis University, Oasis Gardens, Oasis City Center, Lijiang Control Center, Lijiang Garden, Lijiang Night Market, Nepal Sanctum, Nepal Shrine, and Nepal Village.
  6. The max time of the match is 30 minutes.

Control Phase 1: Control:

  1. This is the phase where the game starts.
  2. A summoning point is in the middle of the map, normally in the area where the regular summoning point in Control is located at.
  3. The capture mechanic works differently than in Control. One player must be standing on the control point uncontested at all times in order to gain percentage.
  4. The percentage is earned at 2.5% per second.
  5. The point is considered contested when at least one player of the opposing team is on the point with the capturing player.
  6. The player closest to the center of the control point while uncontested will have a beam connected to them. This beam indicates who will become the boss when the capture is complete.
  7. This beam will move to whoever is currently the closest player to the center of the point.
  8. Percentage earned will not revert until one team captures the point. In that case, both teams capture percentage will revert to 0.

Boss Phase 2: Boss:

  1. When one team captures the point, the player that has the beam connected to them will become the boss.
  2. There are five bosses: Roadhog, Reinhardt, Winston, Orisa, and Sigma.
  3. Each boss has two kits (10 kits total) that they can choose that alters their playstyle. More details about each kit: http://bit.ly/31ZDpJm
  4. The boss has the burning status constantly on him.
  5. The boss cannot heal, and his health constantly degenerates over time.
  6. Kills that the boss makes will count to team score.
  7. If a team player of the boss makes a kill, the victim becomes frozen and is bound by a curse (indicated by orange sparkles). This curse keeps the victim frozen for 3 seconds, and if anyone besides the boss attacks the cursed player, the attacker receive the exact same amount of damage.
  8. The player who curses the victim automatically calls out "Group Up" for the boss to know.
  9. The enemy team of the boss is encouraged to avoid the boss, but if they do damage to the boss, they speed up the boss' health degeneration.
  10. When the boss dies, the game reverts to assemble hero phase for 15 seconds.
  11. Now, the cycle repeats.

Tips:

  • Work together as a team. This is built in mind with the main Overwatch philosophy of working together.
  • If your team gets the boss, make sure to help the boss. Don't try to steal his kills, and if you do get a kill, try to get the boss' attention instead of shooting the player again. You will only hurt yourself this way.
  • Boss, don't be afraid to get in there. Use your ult to create holes to pick off enemy players. Despite that, don't be stupid and be completely surrounded by the enemy team without your allies. You will only end your turn much faster.
  • Boss, watch out for ledges! That can instantly make your huge health pool ineffective.

Ok, huge update time!

  • New Boss: Sigma. Use his gravity based powers to get the edge on your opponents.
  • New Mechanic: Boss Kits. Bosses now have a kit that changes how they play. Each boss has two kits.
  • UI reworked. Now features a dynamic portal moving between each side of the screen depending on who is capturing. Title is also adjusted.
  • Control Point Visuals adjusted. Unlocking point now shows the number of seconds remaining. A "portal" spawns whenever one team is capturing the point.
  • "Cursed" Frozen Mechanic adjusted. Now properly blocks damage from other players, and lasts only 3 seconds. Restores only half health of target.
  • Sigma ult damage is not reduced if executed during boss phase if the player is not a boss.
  • Big, small, and objective messages are more clear and fit more thematically with the mode.
  • Score reworked. Bosses overall have been buffed to account for more kills. It takes 20 points to win now.
  • DoT mechanic on boss reworked. Less damage, and more optimized.
  • Many bugs fixed.

Ok, new update!

  • Custom Strings are now everywhere.
  • UI has been adjusted: In addition to custom strings, the colors have been adjusted. Boss HP bars now match team color, and the locked control point is orange.
  • When a person is frozen from boss team player, they no longer reflect damage onto the attacking individual. They also have purple sparkles instead of purple bad aura.
  • Description has been adjusted, and link and author have been moved to waiting for game header.
  • New Maps: Oasis Gardens and Oasis City Center.
  • Bug fixes.

Ok, big update!

Changes:

  • New Boss: Orisa. She has 4000 hp, no shield, but has full ult charge, 120% in both damage and speed.
  • Bosses are now selected at random for each match.
  • The control point is now locked for 30 seconds at each new round.
  • UI Adjustments.
  • Control Point now detects who is the closest alive player, instead of simply the closest player.
  • Changing heroes adjusted: now you must kill yourself in order to change heroes (this is to prevent exploits in the mode)
  • Score required to win was upped to 12 points.
  • This is because now when a team captures the control point, they get a point towards their score.
  • Respawn time is 1 second longer.
  • Rules renamed to have comments.
  • Sombra invisibility no longer counts towards control point.
  • Other small changes and bug fixes.
  • A future small update will include more UI changes and custom strings and variables.

  • Bosses are map specific (Roadhog on Nepal Village, Nepal Shrine, Lijiang Night Market) (Winston on Lijiang Garden, Nepal Sanctum) (Reinhardt on Oasis University, Lijiang Control Center)
  • Boss Map Choice was based on gameplay reasons. Each of the maps chosen should take advantage of the bosses abilities.
  • Reinhardt has no shield, but he has increased speed and damage. He has an ult charge starting at 40%
  • Winston has no shield, but he has increased damage. He has full ult charge.
  • Phase shift reworked. Now, when the boss dies, everyone returns to assemble hero phase for 10 seconds.
  • Beam and player detection has been reworked. Now, any team member who is closest to the center of the point will be chosen as the boss, whether dead or alive. This is to work around some of the Workshop restrictions. This also makes the beam start location consistent.
  • New UI elements. Boss Hero Icon is displayed in top left corner. This is to tell the player which boss will be spawned.
  • The slow motion between phase shift of control and boss has been shortened. Slow motion has been added when the boss dies, along with a big message.
  • The string "Boss" now appears over the boss' head, to make things clearer.
  • Updated shortened link.
  • Music is no longer disabled.
  • Spectator count reduced to 6.
  • Some bugs fixed.

Changes:

  • Everyone respawns instead of simply teleporting (which means dead players also immediately respawn when point becomes active). Script may need to be cleaned up in a later updated with unnecessary code.
  • Fixed bug that the objective description while waiting for game was "Capture control point."
  • Music is completely disabled instead of reactivating during boss phase (originally, this caused some audio bugs.)
